Equine Vet Service specializes in lameness in sport horses and is committed to continuing education to ensure your horse is getting the most beneficial treatment available.
A basic lameness evaluation generally starts by scanning a horses acupuncture points and lunging the horse to see its natural movement. If a problem is detected we will see if it can be corrected with a chiropractic adjustment. A flexion test may be administered to further diagnose the problem area. Together these examination components help provide the general nature and location of the problem and a treatment plan is presented. Digital x-ray and ultra sound are available for further diagnostics. Our practice tries to use regenerative medicine when appropriate to provide the best long term healing solution.
With this information, treatment can be tailored to the problem and will give us our best chance of assisting healing and allowing the horse to return to a regular work schedule.
Treatments include, but are not limited to, Stem Cell Therapy, Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, IRAP therapy, Anti-Inflammatory Therapy, Antibiotics, Joint Medications, Joint Lavage, Tildren and Casts. Alternative therapies may also be employed: Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Cold Laser Therapy, Ultrasound, Equi-Vibe or Shockwave.
